Family-owned and operated, yet community-built at its core, Camp Balefire 84 was created by people who believe that the best memories — and the strongest character — are forged outdoors, together, around shared experiences. Our name reflects that spirit: a balefire is a beacon, a gathering flame, a signal across distances that says you belong here.

Our Programs

You Lead

Led by a former U.S. Army First Sergeant, You Lead is a hands-on leadership experience built on real-world principles: integrity, teamwork, resilience, and service.

Campers develop practical leadership skills through physical challenges, problem-solving exercises, outdoor training, and team missions designed to build confidence without intimidation. The program emphasizes leading with character — not just authority — and equips young people to step up in school, sports, and life.

Be a Buddy

Created and led by a local children’s author who founded the Be a Buddy school program, this camp focuses on empathy, inclusion, and social confidence.

Through interactive workshops, storytelling, role-play, games, and collaborative activities, campers learn how to:

  • Stand up to bullying safely

  • Build healthy friendships

  • Develop emotional intelligence

  • Become positive leaders in their communities

Be a Buddy empowers kids to move from bystanders to upstanders — creating ripple effects that reach far beyond camp.

Camp Rewind

Camp Rewind captures the nostalgic magic of traditional summer camp while celebrating the arts in all their forms.

Here, campers unplug from the noise of everyday life and dive into creativity, exploration, and pure summer fun. Days are filled with opportunities to discover new passions or deepen existing ones, including:

  • Theater and performance

  • Filmmaking and storytelling

  • Creative writing

  • Painting, drawing, and visual arts

  • Photography

All woven together with beloved camp traditions — campfires, outdoor games, water activities, team challenges, and late-night laughter under the stars.
